Country Head at FTSE Russell, LSEG
Paul Bowes is responsible for the FTSE Russell business in Canada, and is a board director for the Canadian entities of Refinitiv, FTSE Russell and Millenium IT. FTSE Russell, part of the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), is one of the world’s largest index providers, helping investment firms create products like ETFs, that reflect strategies and markets such as US midcaps (Russell 2000), UK blue chips (FTSE 100) and the benchmark for the Canadian fixed income market (FTSE Canada Universe Index).
Paul joined LSEG in 2019 following a 20-year career at Reuters, which became Thomson Reuters and subsequently Refinitiv. LSEG acquired Refinitiv in 2021. While with Refinitiv, Paul played increasingly senior management roles based in London, New York and Toronto. Refinitiv, now LSEG Data & Analytics, is one of the world’s largest providers of financial markets data and infrastructure, with over 40,000 customers and 400,000 end users across approximately 190 markets.
While living in the UK, Paul also briefly worked for a technology start-up called Cicada as their VP Marketing. Cicada worked with Exchanges to help better monetize their market data, and was eventually sold to Chi-X, now owned by CBOE.
Paul was also with the Toronto Stock Exchange as their VP equity markets. At the time, the TSX owned and operated its own equity trading and market data desktop.
