FISD New York Engineering Stream – April 8, 2025

April 8, 2025 @ 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Hosted by LSEG
28 Liberty Street, 56th Floor

Members – Free | Nonmembers – $500

FISD Engineering Stream events very specifically target those who work in an engineering/technical role in market data. The topics discussed are intentionally deeply technical. However, those from a non-technical background are welcome and this is a great opportunity to expand your technical understanding.

Please note that this event has limited capacity. Should the event become fully subscribed, FISD reserves the right to limit the number of delegates attending per firm. This may require removing some registrations in excess of the per company limit. The purpose of this policy is to ensure a diverse member audience with a mix of consumers, vendors, exchanges, and others.

Market Data in a Neutral World – A Technical Demonstration
BCC Group will partner with our event co-sponsors to prove that technical neutrality is the best future for market data. They will use the data from LSEG, the cloud of Oracle, and the components of the BCC-ONE Platform to show how rapidly data consumers can achieve vendor flexibility. BCC Group will walk through platform deployment, show data flowing on every mobile device in the room, toggle between data sources, and manage entitlement and reporting.

William Bierds, Software Engineer, BCC Group

9:50 – 10:30 a.m.

Scalable and Resilient Cloud Architecture for Market Data Distribution
Learn the core cloud architecture design principles that power BCC Groups One Platform on OCI. We will discuss building a globally distributed architecture, best practices to scale on demand, and tuning to drive optimal performance of the platform. See the platform in action running in the cloud walking through real world scenarios demonstrating the power of the cloud.

Travis Liles, Master Principal Cloud Architect, Oracle
Steven Riley, Senior Enterprise Cloud Architect, Oracle

10:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Coffee Break

11:00 – 11:40 a.m.

An Objective and Independent Take of Market Data Technology in 2025

Thoughts, observations and opinions on the state of market data technology in 2025. This panel answers question from an observer’s perspective. What trends are we seeing? What changes are afoot? What challenges and opportunities sit before us an engineering community?

Questions about the separation of ‘church’ and ‘state’ – not literally but as a market data analogy. Recognizing the differences between high performance solutions and the needs of the wider market. Understanding where Cloud and AI fit – and finally exploring whether technology can help with Data Licensing.

Tim Baker, Managing Director, Financial Services Practice Lead, Expero Inc.
Brennan Carley, Managing Principal, Proton Advisors

Opportunities and Challenges Delivering Real-Time Data in the Cloud

Overview of how CME Group is partnering with Google to deliver real-time market data through a Google Cloud-hosted streaming API. This session will cover why this was built, the WebSocket API architecture, problems encountered, and solutions to those problems.

Sam Cantor, Product Manager, Data Distribution, CME Group

12:05 – 12:45 p.m.

Lessons Learned from Running Real-Time Workloads in the Cloud
The real-world challenges of operating large scale pricing distribution workflows in the cloud. LSEG has overcome many complex hurdles with throughput, resiliency, latency, TLS, auto scaling, unplanned maintenance, and authentication which have affected line quality for our long running tcp sessions. Shared insights, lessons learned, and strategies for overcoming obstacles associated with managing long-lived tcp connections in cloud environments.

Michael Granoski, Director of Real-time Architecture, LSEG

12:45 – 1:30 p.m.

Lunch

1:30 – 1:55 p.m.

Chips and Chiplets – Hardware in focus

How AMD Chiplet architecture and some components provide for more cache/core than others. Discussing Inference on CPU and how AMD performs. Further discussing how to size vCPU for hardware and the benefits of oversubscription on our fastest devices.

Rick Hughson, Solutions Architect/PMTS, AMD

1:55 – 2:35 p.m.

Full Tick OPRA in the Cloud: A Use Case Analysis of Challenges and Solutions
Discussing a current use case for delivering Full tick OPRA through the public cloud. Reviewing the challenges in making this design a reality, both technical and customer perception.
