Washington D.C., July 10, 2024 – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) recently expanded its policy team with the appointment of Bethany Abbate as Manager, Artificial Intelligence Policy. In this newly created position, she will support and advocate on behalf of SIIA’s membership on key issues and initiatives related to AI.
Abbate comes to SIIA from Capstone LLC where she was a Senior Associate, Policy Analyst responsible for conducting policy analysis and regulatory due diligence consulting activities on behalf of a client base of corporations, hedge funds, and private equity firms. She previously was a Government and External Affairs Coordinator for Allianz of America. During college, she had internships with US House of Representatives: Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), Office of Oregon Governor Kate Brown and the Oregon State Treasury.
“Bethany’s experience and expertise with artificial intelligence policy issues elevates SIIA’s capabilities in this critical and fast evolving area,” said Paul Lekas, Senior Vice President, Global Public Policy and Public Affairs, SIIA. “She will help drive our policy initiatives and advocacy as well as support our members as they navigate the AI landscape.”
Abbate has a Bachelor of Arts, Civic Communication and Media from Willamette University and a Master of Arts: Strategy, Cybersecurity and Intelligence from Johns Hopkins University, School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
