Association Letter: Data Protection Bill

After India’s Joint Parliamentary Committee issued a report that would increase business compliance requirements and expand India’s Data Protection bill to include non personal data, SIIA has acknowledged member concerns, by working with various associations, to sign-on to a letter of opposition to the proposed revisions from the JPC. The amendments would pose serious obstacles for consumers’ data portability and processing, and business compliance, alike. SIIA signed on to a multi- association letter opposing the bill, alongside a few other associations, such as USISPF, TIA, and the US Chamber.
