SIIA Calls on Congress to Pass the CHIPS Act

SIIA joined 20 other organizations and trade unions in calling on Congress to pass the CHIPS for America Act. Included in both the America COMPETES Act, passed by the House, and the United States Innovation and Competition Act, passed by the Senate, the CHIPS Act would fund critical domestic semiconductor manufacturing and technological development. Advanced semiconductors (or “chips”) are essential to artificial intelligence tools and many other products and services provided by SIIA members. Yet 90% of the global supply of these advanced chips comes from a single non-U.S. company. Establishing U.S. manufacturing capacity will create jobs and help to fuel U.S. innovation.
