SIIA Joins Letter Cautioning Senate Leadership on the Proposed EARN IT Act 

SIIA expresses concern that the EARN IT Act will curtail internet speech without protecting children. Our industry remains committed to combating online child exploitation and we welcome the opportunity to work with members of the Committee to address these concerns. While industry makes tens of millions of child sexual abuse material reports to authorities every year, fewer than 1300 prosecutions have occurred annually, and that number has declined in recent years. Industry is concerned that the bill would discourage Internet services from hosting user-created content, which will gravely impact free expression and access to information, especially for marginalized communities.
