Data Bootcamp: So You Want to be in the Data Business?

Data Bootcamp will go beyond the data hype and give you straight talk on why the data business is the hottest segment of the information industry and how it will continue to grow. We’ll identify the trends that are the most meaningful and profitable, and we’ll tie them to the products and topics being covered at DataContent 2012, to give you a conference overview. We’ll dispel the misconceptions about Big Data and reveal what about it is most relevant to your business. Most importantly, we’ll discuss how to identify opportunities in your own market and within your own organization. This is going to be a fast-paced two hour session, but if you are new to the data business or just confused by it, the Data Bootcamp will give you a clear understanding of where data fits in your future.

Big Data/Little Data

While many think Big Data will change the world, well-crafted datasets are powering markets, workflows and systems. Datasets are essential connections among people, companies and knowledge. Small datasets – call them “Little Data”, that are well-curated, normalized, categorized and maintained – will continue to have tremendous impact. Indeed, Big Data analytics will increasingly rely on Little Data to provide structure, context and true value. Join Russell Perkins for parting thoughts on the many ways Little Data will continue to play a big role in the information ecosystem.

Take advantage of everything InfoCommerce Group represents – thought leadership, deep industry knowledge, visionary outlook, real world experience – in these informal discussions of the issues and challenges that are most on your mind.

Roundtale 1: Is Vendor Relationship Management (VRM) the Next Big Thing?

Facilitator: Janice McCallum

We all know how effective Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms are in powering data-driven product development, marketing and customer service.  But, there’s a flip-side to CRM -  VRM,  or Vendor Relationship Management. B2B buyers now have  cheap and effective tools to collect, manage, share and analyze information on vendors and their products. Join this discussion to learn more about VRM and debate with us whether it is threat or opportunity for commercial data publishers.

Roundtable 2: Bootcamp Footnotes

Facilitator: Megan St. John

For those who attended the Data Content Bootcamp session (or those who are just curious), you may have lingering questions or new lines of query spawned by the conference.  Come join the faculty of the Bootcamp to continue conversations, challenge assertions made or start up a new string of exploration.
